Dear Friends and Supporters,
We pray God’s richest blessings on each of you, your families, and your congregation. We want to thank you for the abundance of material blessings that you share with us in the form of monthly support. We get the news from the U.S. and we know that belts will be tightening and that it will affect missionaries around the world. But God is faithful and He will supply all of our needs. Please find enclosed a financial report for 2007.
We were happy to welcome on January 4th a group of students and faculty from Cincinnati Christian University. They stayed in the homes of church members while in La Romana and had a wonderful time rossing cultural and language frontiers. They did some painting at one family’s home, did roof repair at a school that belongs to a church family and did Vacation Bible School in the front yard of another. On Three Kings Day they had a Bible program complete with crafts and balloon animals and the church provided a snack and something to drink for all of the children (60+) who attended church that day. After three days in La Romana they moved out to Punta Cana. Their first activity there was a prayer walk. Each time we have a prayer walk people in the neighborhoods ask questions, become interested and always cite the great need for a spiritual presence in Punta Cana. The group was able to clean up the property, pull weeds and fill in holes before hosting two VBS sessions (children are everywhere) and an evangelistic campaign. On Wed. Jan 9th nearly 50 members from the La Romana congregation came to Punta Cana to take part in the campaign. It was a late night for them.
We barely had time to catch our breath when the work team organized by Hope Missions in Cogan’s Station, Pennsylvania arrived on Jan. 21. This group of men and women from Hagerstown, MD, Seneca Falls, NY, Waterloo, NY and Cogan’s Station know how to work! They finished the entrance area so that we can install a front gate. They poured a floor and erected a large tent that will serve as a temporary meeting place for classes, workshops and worship services. They also dug the footing for the parsonage, poured the footing and the columns and began laying block. They also held three nights of preaching at the church property. Praise the Lord that the Christian church now has a visible presence in the Punta Cana area.
In Christ,
